Meet Amy from Giggleberry Creations
I am delighted to feature a very clever, supportive and creative sewer, mummy and business woman (and she is a RUNNER too); the queen of buntings: Amy from?Giggleberry Creations. I?m not sure how I first discovered her gorgeous work, but she seriously has an eye for colour and pattern! And a beautiful?blog!
?
Amy, tell us a little about yourself and your business.
I?m a wife, a mummy and a step mummy while also being the driving force behind Gigglebery Creations ? bunting banners handmade with a giggle. My WAHM business is a passion that allows me to get my creative juices flowing in-between park visits and play dates with my scrumptious kids!
?
What did you do before embarking on your adventure with your blog/businesses?
After leaving school?I was a nanny (something I longed to do since watching Mary Poppins as a small child). I loved it for the 3 years I did it but then moved on to become a?retail store manager and believe I learnt some of my small business skills and customer service from that time. I worked in that position until beginning maternity leave to have my first child. In the two weeks before my daughter arrived I ?played? with my sewing machine and produced the first few bunting banners that Giggleberry Creations snowballed from.
?
What was the main force in your decision to take the plunge and launch it?
Once I realised there was serious interest and demand for handmade fabric bunting I jumped in. Being able to work from home, around my new small family was the icing on the cake that makes every step a pleasure.
?
What?s been the best bit about it so far?
Apart from the gift of being able to be at home and work around my family, the best bit would have to be the feedback I get from happy customers. I ADORE seeing photos of the bunting I have made hanging in bedrooms, parties, weddings and events with words of thanks saying how much the banners are loved.
?
What are some of the challenges you?ve had to over come?
Being an online based business I have had to learn the ?ins and outs? of online selling. Marketing, photography and promoting my products to be sure customers are getting what they want from the computer screen to the finished product is not always an easy task and one that is forever changing with new resources popping up all the time like Twitter, Facebook, Instgram etc.
?
Where do you see the business heading in the future?
Giggleberry Creations has been around now for 4 years and I can?t believe how far it has come. I am uber proud of my business and would love to see it continue to grow. I see a rise in custom designs to match party themes/colours and think that this will be the main focus for Giggleberry buntings in the future.
?
List your creative influences and sources of inspiration.?
Fabric shops! Oh how I could spend hours, days even, walking up and down the aisles of my favourite fabric stores matching colours, patterns, themes ? my kids call my most favourite fabric store ?The Flag Shop? lol. Otherwise there is an endless supply of inspiration in magazines and online.
?
What is your favourite colour?
Purple. It has just always been the colour in the pencil tin that called to me when I would draw as a kid and now as an adult I find myself buying purple more than other colours. When I look around me right now I see a purple handbag, purple watch, purple shoes and purple scarf. It?s just a happy vibrant colour I am drawn to.
?
Do you have a favourite party or design trend or theme you love?
Decorations make me smile. There are so many different ways to decorate a party and I could flick through party pics till my eyes hurt looking at the clever and fun ways others come up with to decorate a celebration: be it a dessert table backdrop, door wreaths, or bunting strung around the room.
If you had more free time, what would you love to do with it?
Hmmmmm free time ? what is that again? Just joking ? if I do happen to find a free moment I love to bake. It?s another creative outlet I can get my hands into and see a finished result I can share with others.
?
Finally, what are five words you would use to describe yourself?
Creative, happy, organised, friendly and active.
?
So, I hope you enjoyed learning a little more about Amy from Giggleberry Creations.
